Marit Moerman

With a unique combination of backgrounds in biology, design and photography, I bring complex nature themes to life. This combination enables me to transform complex nature themes into clear and visually appealing knowledge products for the department Biodiversity and Society. Whether it's interactive e-learning, a powerful poster or an accessible report, my goal is always to convey the essence of the story and connect people with nature.

Topic
interests

My passion is to use stories to raise awareness and increase wonder for nature. During my studies, I discovered my love for nature education. I explored this path further in my internships and thesis. I believe that a well-told story has the power to inspire people to reflect and change. With this in mind, I focus my work on creating educational materials that make complex nature topics accessible.

Current
projects

I am currently working on various projects that involve translating complex nature themes into understandable knowledge products:

  • Drinkwater Natuurlijk! (NL) I developed the educational programme Drinking Water Naturally!, aimed at young adults. Through this programme, participants learn about the vital role that nature plays in purifying drinking water. Ecosystem services are an important concept in this context.
  • Pollinator Academy Daarnaast  I also work with international experts to raise awareness of pollinators in Europe. We do this through a training programme and the online learning platform pollinatoracademy.eu, where we bring together information and tools for identifying pollinators.
  • Kennis Natuurlijk! In 'Kennis Natuurlijk!' (Knowledge Naturally!), young researchers answer questions about green issues. I design supporting posters that explain and illustrate the research within Kennis Natuurlijk!
  • Insect van het Jaar In addition, I am working on the Insect Election, in which five native insects, each supported by a well-known Dutch person, are competing for the title of Insect of the Year. The election aims to raise awareness of the importance and beauty of insects.
