A visit to a museum can be quite overwhelming. Noises, moving images, crowds, or bright lights can make a visit uncomfortable for some people.
That's why Naturalis is organizing a low-stimulus evening for adults (16+). During this special opening, we'll take various measures to make the museum as calm and predictable as possible. This way, you can explore the museum at your own pace

What can you expect?
During this low-stimulus evening, we'll provide, among other things:
- fewer visitors in the museum;
- a calm atmosphere;
- dimmed lighting in the Atrium (reception area) and workshops;
- lowered volume for sound and audiovisual presentations where possible;
- a quiet room to relax for a moment;
- staff who are aware of the low-stimulus opening;
- no children present during the evening opening;
- the Rexperience is closes.
Goodto know
We do our best to make the museum as low-stimulus as possible. At the same time, Naturalis remains a museum with permanent exhibitions and other visitors. As a result, not all stimuli can be eliminated.
For example, you may still:
encounter other visitors;
hear noises from visitors or elevators;
see videos and interactive exhibits.
By being clear about this in advance, we hope you'll be able to assess whether this visit is right for you.
Whois this event for?
The low-stimulus evening is intended for adults (16+) who need a calm and predictable museum experience. This includes, for example, people with autism, ADHD, acquired brain injury (ABI), high sensitivity (HSP), and other visitors who feel comfortable in quiet museum environment.
This evening is exclusively for visitors who consciously choose a low-stimulus museum experience.
