This year Leiden is the European City of Science. That is why daily events are organized around a daily topic. On November 10, the day's topic was 'science'. The perfect day to get together with scientists and entrepreneurs from the Leiden Bio Science Park in Naturalis for the Pitching Pub Quiz, organized in collaboration with Biopartner! No less than 13 teams competed against each other for the first prize.
Introductions by researchers from Leiden
The quiz questions were extremely diverse. From questions about Taylor Swift's latest hits to questions about spider fear therapy! Each round of the quiz was introduced by an entrepreneur from the Leiden Bio Science Park or by a Naturalis employee. For example, Becky Desjardins talked about her work as a taxidermist at Naturalis, and Ruben Huis in 't Veld about the company MAT Research, where researchers work on alternatives to animal testing.
Jeremy Miller introduced his round with a story about how to find and catch spiders, and Mindaugas Leonavičius talked about the company dHealthIQ where entrepreneurs are working on finding personal care solutions. Martijn Guliker showed us a real dinosaur bone that he and his colleagues in the Dinolab work with every day. Justin Chotoe closed the evening with a pitch about his company Biotactical.
