Karin Verspui

As an entomologist I am most excited about researching insects like dragonflies, damselflies, butterflies and moths. In projects at Naturalis, I identify specimens, coordinate digitalisation and collectionwork, analyse data and collaborate on writing publications. The subjects for research are often dragonflies and damselflies, collected from different areas in the world (Suriname, French Guiana, Guyana, Philippines and New Guinea) but also plants and animals from the Caribbean islands Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao.

Research
interest

My interest is in reseaching natural history collections, both collected specimens and illustrations. The aim is to make the information from these collections availabele and use it for research concerning biodiversity and distribution patterns. The resulting publications offer a contribution to the knowledge of nature and to nature conservation.
