Onderzoeker met insecten net

Within the scientific domain, we form partnerships with various higher education institutions, government organizations and companies. Our research agenda is fueled by fundamental questions about biodiversity, the functioning of ecosystems, natural capital and the interaction between nature and society. We work on the development of knowledge, methodologies and practical knowledge products based on biodiversity research.

To understand the effects of biodiversity in the long term, monitoring is essential. Our research group studies the effectiveness of monitoring, contributing to the development of innovative monitoring techniques.

Expertise:
Ecology of insects, taxonomy of e.g. Hymenoptera (wasps and bees),  current and innovative monitoring of (pollinating) insects, faunanistics of insects, modelling including species distribution models (SDM), influence of toxicity on biodiversity, citizen science.
