Millions of objects
When we re-open, our scientific collection will be stored at a single location. Our collection is the foundation for studying and understanding biodiversity worldwide. You will be able to view some of it in the new museum.
Our collection highlights online
While the museum is temporarily closed, marvel at the most iconic pieces in our collection online. From quetzals to acorn barnacles, from Apollo butterflies to the T. rex: our collection managers put the spotlight on the most eye-catching objects.
With a unique combination of knowledge, talents and skills, we operate as a national museum, academic research institute and heritage institution.
