Jan Wieringa works in Naturalis as scientific collection manager and as researcher in Taxonomy and Systematics.
His focus is on African plants. His curent projects are about the parasitic plants of the genus Cassytha (Lauraceae), the phylogeny and systematics of the Detarioideae (Leguminosae), on speciation in Anonconotus (Orthoptera) and on speciose groups such as Monanthotaxis (Annonaceae). He also works on biodiversity assessments using several methods including Species Distribution Modeling.
