Lead Programmer ARISE

Naturalis is looking for an experienced and innovative Lead Programmer ARISE

Naturalis Biodiversity Center in Leiden is the Dutch national institute for biodiversity and systematics. With our collection of 42 million specimens, one of the world's largest natural history collections, and our state-of-the-art research facilities we offer the (inter)national research infrastructure for species identification and monitoring. We present the history of our planet, and the diversity of life on Earth, through permanent and temporary museum exhibitions, educational programmes and online presence, with more than 400,000 visitors per year.

ARISE (https://www.arise-biodiversity.nl) wants to achieve an organized overview of all multicellular flora and fauna in the Netherlands and the infrastructure to identify them semi-automatically. ARISE aims to establish a unique end-to-end infrastructure that measures the occurrence of species from digital media, sensors, and eDNA. ARISE facilitates the measurement of biodiversity at any location in the Netherlands and helps users interpret a wide variety of biodiversity data. ARISE is a cross-organization, ambitious project driven by a diverse team of enthusiastic programmers, engineers, ecologists, and computer scientists.
