My work in the laboratory includes optimizing and developing new methods for the ARISE project. The ARISE project aims to sequence all multicellular organisms of the Netherlands. I mostly work on optimizing DNA extractions, PCRs and Next Generation Sequencing such as the Min-Ion (nanopore).

Researchinterest
I am a biologist with a keen interest in marine biology, diving and photography. In the ARISE program, I work as a research technician.
I did my research internship at Naturalis, studying foraminifera with the Marine Biodiversity group. Within the ARISE program, I work in Team Sequencing, which has the task of finding, sequencing and storing a DNA barcode for every single (multicellular) species that occurs in the Netherlands. That's about 350,000 samples to do in the upcoming years!

Currenttopics
I am currently working as a research technician on the ARISE project, focusing on ways to extract DNA from marine samples.
