As a PhD candidate at Naturalis, I study the applicability and complementarity of novel biodiversity monitoring methods in addition to traditional field methods. It mainly focuses on methods regarding insect pollinators but also other species groups can be included in the research.

Researchinterest
Technology is getting better and better, and plays an increasingly important role in biodiversity monitoring. However, novel techniques, based on improved technology, are not necessarily a replacement for traditional monitoring methods. I am studying the differences in applicability and results between these novel techniques and traditional monitoring methods, and whether they can be used complementary to each other.
