Bumblebee conservation

Bumblebees have strongly declined since the 1950th. Since 2017 we are therefore working on increasing the knowledge on bumblebees in order to contribute to their conservation. Together with hundreds of volunteers we are mapping the distribution of the species and in cooperation with Butterfly Conservation we are working on a national bumblebee monitoring scheme. The knowledge gained will be used for conservation action plans for rare and threatened species such as the Moss carder bee and the brown-banded carder bee.
