From Monday 1 to Friday 5 May, our taxidermists will work on the sunfish. The skin of the sunfish that stranded on Ameland in December 2021, will be stretched around a model. While working on this, our experts are happy to answer all your questions about this remarkable ocean creature.

Ocean sunfish found on Ameland safe in the freezer

The ocean sunfish that washed up on the beach in Ameland last Monday is now in a cold storage. Naturalis employees have taken some samples for research. The animal will be stuffed, and museum visitors will be able to see that process live.
