Restaurant Papa Aswa and Naturalis are joining forces for Naturalis Nights: We Belong to the Forest, an immersive dinner show. Throughout the evening, the story of the Surinamese rainforest comes to life through food, music, dance, and theater.

Let yourself be taken on a journey through the forest, featuring a unique five-course menu curated by Papa Aswa, stories about biodiversity, and surprising live performances. It is a sensory experience that reminds us that nature is not something outside of us, but something of which we are a part. Caring for nature means caring for ourselves.

During this five course dinner show, food, live music, theater, dance and storytelling take you on a journey through the natural world that has helped shape Surinamese cuisine, culture, and history. Featuring artistic contributions from Sarah-Jane, Wayamu Woreyan, Kula Skoro, and Jörgen Raymann.
Practicalinformation
- Date and time: Naturalis Nights: We Belong to the Forest takes place on November 20 and November 21 2026. We look forward to welcoming you at 7:00 PM; the dinner show runs until 10:00 PM.
- Five-course vegetarian menu: The menu is entirely vegetarian. The kitchen uses the finest plant-based ingredients and herbs to create a surprising culinary experience.
- Dining together: We share this experience with others. We use tables for eight, meaning you will share a table with other guests. Guests within the same booking will be seated together.
- Drinks included: Drinks are included in the program. We do not operate an open bar but serve a curated selection of drinks at specific moments.
- Dietary requirements and allergies: Do you have any specific dietary requirements or allergies (such as a gluten or nut allergy)? Please let us know before November 12 via reserveren@papaaswa.nl, so the kitchen can accommodate them.

It is about reclaiming Surinamese pride and honor. Surinamese stories come to life in the restaurant. They work with the recipes, herbs, and spices brought over by their ancestors, combining them with the freedom to refine, innovate, and build further. They treat Surinamese cuisine as a heritage, focusing on an experience that honors its dignity.
