Accessibility of Naturalis
during roadwork on Plesmanlaan and A44

Due to roadworks on Plesmanlaan and the A44 motorway, the traffic situation around Naturalis has temporarily been changed. The museum remains accessible, but please take into account rerouting and slightly longer travel times. Below you will find practical information and alternative routes.

How to access
Naturalis

  • Cars: via Einsteinweg and Zernikedreef.
  • Cyclists and pedestrians: new crossing on Plesmaanlaan near HuurMij available.
  • Public transport: bus lines 1 and 2 and R-net Leiden-Katwijk are following temporary routes.

Parking

Until the end of November, you can park in the car park behind our building; or, if it is full, you can use a nearby car park or parking location. We recommend the car park on Haagweg. From there, a city shuttle bus will take you to Naturalis (and other locations in the city centre) free of charge. 

New traffic situation
on Plesmanlaan

From 8 p.m. on Friday 7 November, Plesmanlaan will have only one lane available in each direction. Darwinweg will be closed from Plesmanlaan. You can reach Naturalis via Einsteinweg / Zernikedreef.

Be well prepared before setting off:

  • Plan your route in advance and allow for extra travel time.
  • Always follow the diversion signs.
