Getting there

Naturalis is just 15 minutes’ walk from the historical town centre of Leiden and the other Leiden museums. You can also board the City Shuttle for free transport to the shopping district or one of the other museums.

City Shuttle

Visitors to Naturalis can board the free City Shuttle if they show their museum ticket. The City Shuttle drives a standard route to the centre of Leiden. A free phone for calling the City Shuttle is available in the Naturalis entrance area.

Route description, navigation systems and parking

The car park (P1) at the Darwinweg/Hipocratespad junction does not have a postal address.
You may use these coordinates: N 52.16596 / E 4.47384.

In the weekend, cars may be parked in the staff car park on Mendelweg (P2).
Parking tokens for the Naturalis car park can be bought for €3.00 at the cash desk during museum opening hours and are valid all day.

By train

Naturalis is located close to Leiden Central Station.
Directions

• Leave the station on the LUMC/ Oegstgeest side (rear entrance) 
• Walk towards the LUMC hospital
• Follow the pedestrian signs to Naturalis (approximately 10 minutes walk)

By scheduled bus service

• Get off the bus at the LUMC bus stop
• Follow the pedestrian signs to Naturalis (approximately 10 minutes walk)

By car

By car from Amsterdam

• take the A4 motorway until the junction with the A44 motorway near Burgerveen
• take the A44 in the direction of ‘Leiden West’
• leave the motorway at exit 8 ‘Leiden’
• follow the signs for ‘Leiden Centrum’ (you are now on Plesmanlaan)
• follow the signs to ‘Naturalis’. The car park is on Darwinweg

By car from Utrecht

• from Bodegraven, take the N11 motorway until close to Leiden
• at the crossing with the A4 motorway, turn left onto the A4 in the direction of ‘Den Haag’
• leave the motorway at the next exit (= exit 7, ‘Zoeterwoude-Dorp’) and follow the N206 towards ‘Leiden’
• keep following the N206 towards ‘Leiden Zuid’
• continue along the N206 in the direction of ‘Katwijk’
• near the Holiday Inn, turn right twice and follow the signs to ‘Naturalis’ (you are now on Plesmanlaan)
• follow the signs to ‘Naturalis’. The car park is on Darwinweg

By car from Rotterdam/The Hague

• take the A4 motorway
• leave the motorway at the first exit (= exit 7, ‘Zoeterwoude-Dorp’)
• follow the N206 towards ‘Leiden’
• continue along the N206 towards ‘Leiden Zuid’
• then continue along the N206 in the direction of ‘Katwijk’
• near the Holiday Inn, turn right twice and follow the signs to ‘Naturalis’ (you are now on Plesmanlaan)

By car from Noordwijk/Katwijk

• take the N206 towards ‘Leiden’
